If you’re like me, you don’t mind fiddlin’ around in the kitchen once in a while to come up with our own concoction of one kind or another. Making your own survival cereal is as simple and as easy as can be. Just use those grains that you like best. The recipe below is just an example of one kind of cereal you can make, but you can add or take away any grain you wish.
In a big bowl, mix in:
- 4 parts hard red winter wheat berries
- 1 part Barley
- 1 part Quinoa seeds
- 1/2 part Chia seeds
- 1/2 part Flax seeds

Grind the grains and seeds as fine as you like in a meat grinder or a hand-cranked coffee mill. Store in an airtight container – recommend vacuum- sealed bags – in your pantry.

When you’re ready to eat, boil 1 cup of water.
Then scoop out about a half-cup of the cereal. Add dried fruit, nuts if you like.
Cook for 8-10 minutes and flavor with honey, cinnamon or even chocolate scrapings or powder. Now you’re ready to eat hot, delicious, vitamin-packed breakfast cereal.
